James Stokes picked up his first camera at the tender age of 7. Mainly self-taught he has a fascination for form, colour and composition. After growing up in the UK he moved to Amsterdam to work for the country’s top interior design magazines. From there his work has been published all over the world. His love for nature and aesthetic simplicity has drawn him to Stockholm where he now lives with his family. Although he doesn’t own any Memphis design himself, he has a love of the movement and has had the honour of photographing some of its founders Michele De Lucchi and Alessandro Mendini.
